Our Mission

We provide a family-centered environment designed to engage and empower families.

Lighthouse Child & Family Development Center provides quality care and education to children 0-6 years in a Christian environment with a focus on strengthening families through community collaboration.

Program philosophy

Lighthouse Child & Family Development Center (LCFDC) is designed to nurture and support each child’s physical, social, emotional intellectual and language development. Each child’s growth and development is enriched through developmentally appropriate experiences.

The program’s daily schedule provides children with opportunities to explore the environment, self-select activities, practice language, develop problem-solving skills, discover appropriate interactions with peers and adults and acquire concepts through hands-on experiences.

In addition, LCFDC has a deep desire and focus to strengthen families. LCFDC strives to educate and support families in their efforts to accomplish individual goals and to assist them in becoming strong advocates for their child’s education.

Primary goals and objectives

  • Provide quality care and education to children ages 0-6 years.
Lighthouse Child & Family Development Center (LCFDC) accomplishes this goal by using best practices in all areas of programming and by individualizing curriculum for each child through observation and assessment.
  • Encourage and empower families through holistic support.
LCFDC aims to assist families in their efforts to raise confident and resilient children and to assist each individual family in accomplishing desired family goals. In addition, LCFDC offers family education opportunities regularly throughout the year to assist families in obtaining their goals.
  • Partner with community organizations to assist with programming and sustainability.
LCFDC believes we are better together! LCFDC partners with the faith community to deliver care and education services. In addition, LCFDC partners with many other community agencies to assist with quality programming such as the Musgrave Foundation, Community Partnership of the Ozarks, Community Foundation of the Ozarks, The One Stop for Early Childhood (Council of Churches), Drury University, and the Springfield-Greene County Library.

Our history

LCFDC was founded in 2007 through the vision of the Musgrave Foundation, who continues to be an on-going supporter of Lighthouse and its mission. The program began with a small center based out of Faith Tabernacle Church. Lighthouse opened a church partner location in October 2009 at Messiah Lutheran Church.
